About the Artist
Emily Cartagine is a theatrical artist, fine artist, and craftsperson. After graduating from Ithaca College, she decided to move out west to explore what else this beautiful country has to offer. Currently based out of Tucson, Arizona, Emily focuses on oil painting, drawing, photography, and of course resin crafts. Through these mediums she explores the subjects of the human body, food and nourishment, and our connection to nature. Emily feels a strong connection with nature and often incorporates themes of nature into her artwork. In her free time, Emily enjoys going hiking where she also collects flowers to dry or press for her work. She also utilizes crystals, butterfly wings, insects, and other natural elements collected sustainably here in Tucson and on her travels, turning them into magical little natural worlds in pieces of jewelry, art, and home decor. In addition to these nature capsules, Emily enjoys making custom work to preserve your memories. From flowers to ashes, baby teeth to photos, if it’s dry or can be dried, it can be turned into a custom piece for you or your loved ones.
Emily currently serves as Vice President of the Warehouse Arts Management Organization which helps promote, protect, preserve, and program Tucson’s creative arts. Her studio is located at the Art & Design Center. You can find her work at the Steinfeld Gallery, Aquamarine Daydream, the Southern Arizona Arts Guild Gallery, and at the Art & Design Center.
